DIY confetti tablecloth

I recently made a DIY confetti tablecloth for our Blogs and Books event and I thought I’d share the DIY as a sneak peek before I post photos from the event. :)

I thought this project would be perfect for the book The Happiness Project because rainbow polka dots are just plain happy! I followed instructions from Jenny on Oh Happy Day. It’s really quite simple: purchase a white tablecloth (or white sheet like I did) and fabric paint in the colors of your choice (I used these from Martha Stewart). Then create circle templates from card stock by tracing a small round object and cutting out a circle (or use a big circle hole punch if you’re crafty and have one!).

Paint randomly spaced circles with your templates to create a confetti appearance. If you’re lucky enough to have a big empty room with a wood floor, you can spread the tablecloth on the floor. If you’re in a small space like me, you can drape it over a table and chairs. The trick then is patience: make sure the paint dries before you move the tablecloth to work on another area! I did this over the course of several days.

What do you think? I realize that due to my orderly nature, my dots are rather evenly spaced, but I love how it turned out. :) It’s just so happy and looking at it instantly lifts my mood.

Hope you’re inspired!

xoxo
