Happy Valentine’s Day! It’s been such a festive week around here! You can never have too much holiday spirit, right? Ha I guess all of theses hearts just make me happy.

Remember how I posted cookies instead of granola files last week? Well I promise I’ve still have lots of healthy recipes to share, but here I go again sharing not-so-healthy (but oh-so-delicious) jam & nutella pie tarts…all in the name of love! It’s the perfect Valentine’s treat and they were so fun to make. Here’s what you’ll need…

Jam & Nutella Pie Tarts

Ingredients
Pie crust (you can make this ahead of time - here is a great recipe)
Fancy jam (I used a black currant, pomegranate, and cherry blend. Yum!)
Nutella
Heart-shaped cookie cutter
1 Egg yolk
1 Tablespoon heavy cream
4 tbsp. granulated sugar
Parchment paper

Directions
Preheat oven to 425 degrees.
Roll out the pie dough until it’s flat and cut out an even number of heart shapes using a cookie cutter.
With a small knife (or a smaller heart cookie cutter), cut out heart shapes in half of the shapes to make the top of the tarts. They don’t have to be perfect. :)
Then place a spoonful of nutella followed by a spoonful jam.
Using a fork, press the edges of the top layer of dough into the bottom.
Mix the egg yolk and heavy cream and brush over the tops of the tarts. Top with sugar.
Bake for about 20 minutes until golden brown.
Enjoy the most delicious combination ever!

What are you doing for Valentine’s Day? Nick isn’t into this overly commercial holiday and I guess I understand…so despite all of the hearts around the house we’re going to normal (and fun!) night in. Of course it revolves around food – we’re going to try pickling some veggies! And we’re making fancy homemade pizza, too- my favorite.

Whether it’s ordinary or extra special, I hope you have a happy day! Sending love to you all!

xoxo
