my workspace + why I blog

workspace | Inspired to Share

I’m excited to be on Shayla’s blog today, participating in her Why do you blog?” series. I’d love it if you would head on over to check it out! Thank you so much to Shayla for having me.

I thought it would make a good excuse to share my semi-new workspace with you all. (Remember my old one? Yep, our dining table.:)  I was long overdue for a dedicated workspace and we decided to turn our guest room into a dual office.

I got an inexpensive white desk from Ikea and love how bright and clean is it. Macs just look better on white, they really do. Nick was sweet enough to help me set up a new monitor to my Mac so that I’m looking at eye level… and what a luxury! That little change has helped my posture tremendously. I also got my dream chair, which was a splurge, but I like to think the added productivity is worth it… plus it’s comfortable, too!

I knew I wanted to put lots of visuals and quotes to keep me inspired and I was also hoping  for a tack board. I anticipate I’ll change the wall art once in a while, but for now these were some great inspiring prints I had already! (Pictured above from left to right: “just be cool” by The Vaguely, “keep calm and blog on” by Shayla Grace, “you don’t need to sleep to dream” by Citizens for Optimism, & “feels good to get some stuff done” by Mary Kate McDevitt)

I also incorporated a bit of DIY- all super simple projects. I painted the border of a cheap corkboard from Ikea to be bright blue. It was an easy task that made a big difference!

Using washi tape, I created “frames” around my prints. They add a fun touch, are renter-friendly, and are easy to change up later!

Scattered inspiration boards are fun, but I need order. These categorized lists on my bulletin board help me feel organized.

Do you have a dedicated workspace? I’ll admit sometimes the couch and my laptop feels like a dream, but I’m so glad I now have a dedicated workspace as I feel so much more balanced.

I’d love to hear what you think and if you’ve tried any other DIY ideas for your office or workspace.

Hope you’re having a great week!

xoxo

home office organization

tips for home office organization | Inspired to Share

Oh, organization. It’s is a constant work in progress, don’t you think? Especially when it comes to a home office, organization takes time and patience.

Spring is the perfect time to start fresh. I recently redesigned my workspace and reorganized. It was a big task and I’m so relieved to have everything officially in it’s place…I really think it helps me get more done. Staying organized requires consistent effort, and while I go through ebbs and flows, most of the time my desk too much of a disaster zone. ;)

I recently wrote a post for The Neighborhood with tips I found especially helpful for home office organization.

Check it out here. Hope you’re inspired to get organized! I’ll be sharing more photos of my workspace soon.

Emily Liebl of EL Vintage Dream Job Interview | Inspired to Share

Today we have a new Dream Job interview (just in time for the holidays!). The interview is with the wonderful Emily Liebl, the woman behind EL Vintage. Once a Midwesterner (she’s originally from Milwaukee, where I live!), she now lives in Los Angeles. Emily is a woman with a big heart, an eye for vintage. and a true passion for what she does. Her personality and energy are infectious and it’s clear that she loves what she does! A big thanks to Emily for taking the time and I hope you enjoy this glimpse into her business, style, and space! xo

workspace inspiration

workspace inspiration | inspired to share

A while ago I shared my  temporary workspace (currently at our dining room table!), and I’m ready for the real deal. I’m so tired of eating dinner and looking at my computer and thinking about work. I spend so much time here and I want a space that’s functional and inspiring, and most importantly a separate and dedicated space, whether that’s an entire room or a corner. So I thought I’d put together a little roundup of inspiration for the space. I’m so excited for this little makeover project! We’ve been debating whether to turn our guest bedroom into a full-fledged office or put my workspace in part of our living area. We rarely have overnight guests so we’re tempted to get rid of the guest bed, but I really want a bright, well-lit space and our guest bedroom is a little gloomy. So I think we might add my desk to our living area and make it work. Living in a small space and renting has its challenges, but I’m grateful for the space we have. We’re taking it slow but I’ll be sure to share the space when it’s finished! :)

workspace inspiration

I just love this colorful space in the Los Angeles home of extremely talented duo Lou Mora & Sarah Yates. It has me thinking about a joint workspace. Right now Nick and I work in separate rooms and I would love to have a joint office with desks side-by-side. I’m always needing to bounce my ideas off of someone so it would be nice to have him close by. Except my desk would have the giant Mac and his would have the PC…! ; )

a big mess

I’ve been feeling like a big mess lately. Disorganized and always behind. But I have to remind myself that the creative life is rarely tidy. And that’s ok, right? It’s all about attitude. : )

What do you do when you’re overwhelmed? How do you regain focus and stay on track?
