Ever since our trip, I’ve been making a habit of pausing to appreciate the sunset each day, no matter what I’m doing. It’s such a simple way to enjoy every day. There is something especially magnificent about the sunsets in California and each one we saw was stunning, saturated with color. Almost every night we planned around catching the sunset from a good view. :) Here are photos of a sunset from Signal Hill in Long Beach…it was incredible!!

The sky really did look that way, all ablaze! What a beautiful sight.
Happy Tuesday! I’m thinking of all of you on the East Coast and hoping you are safe!

Happy Tuesday, friends! Sorry if you happened to click on any bad links yesterday, I made a little mistake trying to publish my post! But it is fixed now. Since we’re leaving for our trip on Wednesday, I’ve let myself get a tad stressed. I’m trying to cross everything off the list and instead I just feel like I’m running around in circles not crossing anything off the list. Ever had that experience? Ah, stress, the unyielding beast. Lately I’ve been quick to give in to frustration, but I’m working on choosing my attitude and a better state of mind. Time to let go of stress and realize that life goes on. :) We’re going on a trip for our anniversary in a couple days. Is it clear that I need a vacation? ;)
But back to the colors of Fall. So this past weekend I got to do some driving in the country, to go to an apple orchard and flea market. Fall has reached perfection here in Wisconsin and the colors are so beautiful. I couldn’t take my eyes off of all of the colors while I was driving! I may have even snapped the first photo while driving (sorry, Mom!). It’s funny how every year I seem to forget how beautiful and inspiring Fall is in the Midwest. Here are a few photos from the weekend…

Walking around after the flea market…

The apple orchard was charming…

They have a working electric train that my cousin just loved…

And how cute is that picture of my Grandpa at the old fashioned ice cream parlor? It makes me so happy. :)
I hope you’re enjoying Fall, too. I really think it might be the most wonderful time of the year!

Happy Fall weekend! I’ve been trying to find some simple ways to enjoy Fall, even if it’s just collecting little pieces of nature from a walk. The colors of Fall are so inspiring! I have to admit this has been a tough week and I’m relieved it’s over. We are going to California for vacation next week and I can hardly wait! (I’ve got some great guest posters lined up while I’m gone!) Even though I’ve adjusted to Fall here, I have no problem jumping back into 70 degree weather- sign me up!
This weekend I’ve got plans to visit an apple orchard and flea market. I’m so excited to taste apples and hopefully find some treasures. I also plan on cooking delicious fresh recipes, which has turned into my favorite kind of relaxation. :)
What are your plans? Have a great one and thanks for reading!

Guess what? My sister and brother-in-law are having a baby! Kelsey is my only sibling and it’s the first baby in our family! I may already be an aunt on Nick’s side but I’m still super excited! It’s going to be so much fun. They live in Boston so we’re excited to visit soon!
I thought I’d share the invite I designed for her baby shower! They call the baby “bunny” and they’re having a boy so we kept the palette soft, warm, and neutral. :) (I blurred some of the text for privacy.)
Congrats Kelsey, I’m so excited for you! :)

Happy Monday! Today is the day I’m sharing photos of a recent collaboration with Abbey Moore Photography! I’m so excited to share these with you and I’ve got a few butterflies in my stomach because they are more serious and personal than anything I’ve done before. We were inspired by raw and moody black and white portraiture. So often the focus around the blogosphere is on fashion and what we’re wearing but I wanted to do something completely different, something that’s a little vulnerable and focuses less on the clothing and more the subject and emotion. I hope you enjoy these and I’d love to hear what you think! A huge thanks to Abbey Moore for taking these photos! If it isn’t already clear, she’s insanely talented. She has such an infectious personality that is so fun to be around. Abbey is based out of Michigan and primarily shoots weddings. Be sure to check out her website and blog as well as follow her on Twitter and Facebook. Well, here goes…!

The Internet is a pretty great place, but nothing beats stepping outside and get inspired by nature. I have a serious weakness for succulents and I’m just endlessly fascinated by them. We recently went to the Milwaukee Conservatory and I had fun taking photos. I think it would be so cool to live in a place where these grow naturally year-round!
What do I love most about succulents? Probably their unique textures and shapes.

Where do you look for inspiration in nature?

P.S. I don’t know why all the text on my blog is italicized, so please pardon the change. I think it’s just another sign that it’s time for my new site!
